Hidden gems along the Amstel River

 

Amsterdam is a wonderful city. But personally I was tired of the Amsterdam sailing area. Sailing close to each other in the same waterway or sailing directions quickly became distasteful to me. The eternal bureaucratic complications regarding all sailing permits in the city behind the scenes. Amsterdam is no longer what it was for me. The raw and free was now suddenly encapsulated and a city too busy with too many tourists. 

I was more looking for the spacious, the free, the peace, nature and the more authentic. I am now also 51, so this is also a fairly natural reaction.

The opportunity arose that I could move to a house in the polder almost along the Amstel river. It was just a step and I wanted to continue this step with the next step. The area where I had my horse was now also my house and an authentic boat suddenly came into my sights. I decided to purchase this with my son. To let customers experience the "hidden gems of the Amstel River” and more small rivers that are connected. Together we decided to call the boat a charm in Dutch called Scheepsrecht. It is my 4th boat but still my 3rd to want to offer it commercially. 3 times a charm went through my head Slowly the idea arose to make a boat available to people in the area who do not have a big, expensive boat on the Amstel but who would like to sail on the Amstel on a nice day. This project is still in development but is already good received by the municipality of Ouderkerk aan de Amstel. By getting to know the area better, the farmers and their products. I thought of offering an optional nice lunch basket for the canals filled with regional products.

 A flat bottom boat to easily find your way through the polder area between the meadows. And the surroundings... all peace and quiet, nature, birds, cows, meadows, mills and nice places where you can relax and have a drink. . far away from all the massive busy terraces and city noise. The boat is electrically powered by a very quiet motor to navigate the area well and fairly. You can rent the boat alone or for up to 5 people and easily drive it yourself. Or hire a captain, this could be me, but someone who sails much better is my 20-year-old son. Let a social young adult take you or your group on a wonderful boat tour. Born and raised in Amsterdam with a preference for nature. If you choose to sail with a captain, we can explain why we came to love this area, but you can also simply be surprised by the surroundings and the small restaurants where you can moor for a drink or just sit for a while. on a blanket in the grass.

The cost for this experience is 100 euros per hour plus 30 including skipper. Of which €20 per trip will be reserved for a savings plan for a free trip for people with a small budget. If you want to miss more, you are free to do so. 

Optionally reserve a lunch basket €20 pp. 

Considering the weather conditions are very changeable in our beautiful country. A request must be arranged at least 2 days in advance, also in connection with putting together the lunch basket. You can always reserve in advance and cancel up to 24 hours in advance.
