Some route possibilities:
1. Easy City Route aprox 3 to 4 hours depending how long you stop
Sail to Amsterdam in 1 hours time. Past the Amstel Hotel and the Carré at the River locks. Turn right when you pass the "Hart Museum" and continue on the "Nieuwe Herengracht". You will pass by the Holocaust monument and the Botanical gardens as well as the "Wertheimpark" the oldest park of Amsterdam. Then continue through the big locks and go passed the Maritime Museum with a replica of an old historical "VOC" schip. If the weather is hot you could actually swim in this area. There is a natural swimming pool and on hot days locals come here for a swim.
Continue passed Nemo and going straight you might want to have a stop at "Hannekes Boom" for a drink or coffee or some lunch. Don't forget to visit the toilet!
Leaving you now have Nemo on your left side as you pass by on the right and continue sailing towards a green bridge Called "The Kikkerbil". You are now on "The Oude Schans" where you'll pass by an old defence tower called "The Montelbaanstoren". This tower got its name from a Spanish Duke called "Alba" who wanted to build his castle on this location with the name "Monte Albano". That is why the Amsterdam people called it the Montelbaanstoren!
Continue on the Oude schans and see the "Lock keepers house" in front of you (ow days a pub) and go through the "Sint Antonie lock".
After the lock make a strong right turn and pass through the tiny "Raamgracht". Also called the whisperers canal. At the end of this canal make a left on the "Kloveniersburgwal". Continue all the way until you see the terras of Grand Café the Jaren on your right Turn left and you are back on the Amstel river and this will take you back to starting point.
Note! You can also take the Canalbelt route by turning right after the Bleu bridge (Stopera). But you need experience as these waters can be very busy and tight. Especially on a busy Saturday!
2. Countryside route aprox 3 to 4 hours
Sail to "Uithoorn" and pass by farms and beautiful houses on the banks of the Amstel river. The beautiful landscape of the "Dutch Polder" at its best! It will take you about 1 hour and 15 minutes passing by "Nes a/d Amstel" along the way. At Uithoorn you might want to stop for a drink or visit the toilet at numerous restaurants with there likely terasses.
Continue back where you will see a right turn possibility along the way. Take this turn and sail the small river named "The Ronde Hoep". Farms, countryside tiny villages at their best. At "Stokkelaarsbrug" you take a left turn and notify the bridge keeper to open the bridge for you. This will also happen at "The Voetangel". You could have a drink at this great restaurant as well. After this bridge continue left and keep going until you arrive at the bridge in "Ouderkerk a/d Amstel". this bridge you can get under but make sure the bimi top or front tent is down! And tuck in your head!
You are back now where you could end your day on one of the terraces of "Ouderkerk a/d Amstel"
3. Vinkeveenseplassen route All day
When you leave "Amstelzijde", you take a left after the church at the waterside on the left. You will pass by restaurant "The oude Smidse" and go under a low bridge. The bridge doesn't have to be opened but take it easy and make sure nothing stick out! Also your head! (Tent or bimitop should be unfolded!!!)
Follow the river "The Ronde Hoep" and see the country side and Polder at its best. When you arrive at Restaurant "The Voetangel" on your right you will have to ask the bridgekeeper to open the bridge for you. Doublecheck the times as you need to return and don't want to get stuck!
Next bridge at Stokkelaarsbrug. Also the bridge keeper will have to open this bridge and ask him to open the next bridge you need to take to "Vinkeveense plassen".
After the bridge take a strong left and wait until he also opens this bridge. then continue through the beautiful countryside and houses along the way. You will have to wait for the bridge keeper for one more bridge top open.
After this bridge you are almost at the lock called "Proostdijersluis" that will take you down to the level of The Vinkeveense plassen. In the lock make sure you don't tie the both to tight. Let the rope slip as the lock takes the water level down. You will have to pay the lockkeeper around 5,-. Continue and enjoy your day at Vinkeveense plassen!
Note: The route up and down will take you about 2, 5 hours either way! So make sure you leave in time!
